On the border between Burgundy and Champagne is the house of Champagne Ch Marin et Fils, more precisely in Avirey-Lingey, a small village in the Côte des Bar. Eric Marin and his wife rule over the 150 hectares of the Champagne Marin estate.
The family farm was already involved in agriculture in the 1950s, with a cow farm, which was transformed into a sheep farm and cereal farm over the years. In 1969, the first vines were planted and in 1997, Champagne Ch Marin et fils was born. After his training at the viticultural high school of Beaune, Eric Marin, 3rd generation of the family, started the champagne adventure. The first bottling is made in 1993 and the first bottle is dressed the following year. Very proud of this heritage, Eric has continued to perpetuate the family traditions of harvesting and handling: that is to say, he ensures the work of the vineyard until the bottling of Champagne Marin.
The family business Champagne Ch. Marin et fils has been certified High Environmental Value since 2021, so it works for the protection of biodiversity on its lands. Speaking of which, out of the 150 hectares of land, 6 hectares are reserved for wine production: 5 hectares of Pinot Noir, the king grape variety of the Côte des Bar, 0.75 hectares of Chardonnay and 0.25 hectares of Pinot Blanc. Eric Marin has a great respect for nature and his vines, which he takes care of with particular attention. Champagne Marin is his "playground", he is indeed inspired by his experience acquired in Burgundy to create his blends, especially for the Rosé Champagnes and the red wines. We thus find a good mix between ancestral tradition and new technologies, both in terms of material and philosophy. This announces very promising tastings...
As we said earlier, Eric Marin is a winegrower with a lively and creative mind, so he has imagined vintages with original names and each of them has its own character: the trademark of the Champagne Marin house is none other than La Précieuse. This Champagne Brut is, as its name indicates, elegant and fresh. La Naturelle is a Brut Nature cuvée, which does not benefit from any added sugar for even more purity; La Délicate is composed of Pinot Blanc, a rather rare grape variety, and Chardonnay, a sensitive grape variety to which one must pay more attention. Next, La Gourmande, a rosé champagne with crisp red fruit aromas; Les Ferrées, a Blanc de Noirs from a sublime parcel of the same name; and finally, La Souveraine: a vintage cuvée that will enhance your meals thanks to its strong temperament.
