Domaine Courbis

Domaine Courbis is a property of 33 hectares, it is the southernmost estate of Saint Joseph, also glued to Cornas. Courbis has been one of the stars of the right bank of the Rhône for a few years thanks to an original piecemeal work for the region.

WINE, MORE THAN A PASSION FOR THE COURBIS FAMILY

The Courbis family bathed in wine since 1587, indeed the father of Dominique and Laurent was already clearing and replanting the hills close to the Rhône as children. It was obvious for them to resume the exploitation Courbis, dating back to the 16th century. The two brothers have since the beginning the objective of the quality of the wines and the sustainability of the property. Both are complementary, Dominique Courbis manages the estate while Laurent Courbis ensures the notoriety of the wines. Modernity has combined with the tradition, in the vineyards as well as in the cellar, of innovative practices for the time and which continue to be unanimous.

LET’S TALK LITTLE, LET’S TALK TERROIR AT DOMAINE COURBIS

The cellar of Domaine Courbis was built 20 years ago, it is a gravitary cellar: an investment that has significantly improved the quality of the wines produced. The harvest is manual, in small cases and scavenging is practiced throughout the vineyard. The ageing takes place in new barrels, having been able to contain up to 4 wines. The work of the horse, where possible, allows regular ploughing on the Courbis property. In short, the Courbis brothers have a taste for well done work and ancestral traditions, while bringing their meticulous touch to produce exceptional Courbis Wine.

COURBIS WINE FROM RHONE VALLEY

Domaine Courbis produces great wines on several appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley, they are well known for their Saint Joseph Courbis: we think of the cuvée Les Royes but also their wines from Cornas like the Champelrose and Les Eygats cuvées, not to mention their IGP Ardèche. Dominique and Laurent Courbis produce several ranges, grape cuvées, “Domaine” cuvées and parcellar cuvées all in a spirit of terroir and respect for the environment. We find wines of character, precise and whose quality increases every year, we have never been disappointed with this family production!
