Domaine Vaccelli is located in Cognocoli-Monticchi between Ajaccio and Propiano, in the Taravu valley in the south of Corsica. The vineyard consists of 25 hectares of vines planted in hillsides on granite arenas in AOC Ajaccio. Domaine de Vaccelli is very popular and is now one of the best Corsican domaines.
Domaine Vaccelli was created in 1960 by Roger Courrèges and passed on in 1974 to his son Alain, who trained alone in viticulture. The family started by building a Domaine de Vaccelli wine cellar and pulling out the old vines already present to replace them with grape varieties such as Alicante, Cinsault, Sciaccarellu or Grenache and Muscat d'Alexandrie. From 1961, the Courrèges family began to cultivate this granitic soil, constituting the south of the Ajaccio appellation. Today it is Gérard Courrèges, who runs the magnificent Domaine Vaccelli Corse transmitted from father to son.
Domaine Vaccelli went into organic farming under the Ecocert label a few years ago. It is therefore characterized by fine and elegant wines, which removes it from the standards the appellation but makes it all its originality. The modernised Corsican viticulture at the Domaine de Vaccelli and its typical Corsican grape varieties are the pillars of the Ajaccio appellation and terroir.
