The Zuria wine estate is a family property created by Dominique Zuria, which produces Corsican wines. He saved the vineyard of Bonifacio by being the last man living in the village, also called "Pialincu".
In 2010, Dominique Zuria decided to give back its letters of nobility to the vineyard of Bonifacio. Indeed, in 1850 it was a vineyard of 450 hectares then 25 years later, phylloxera ravaged 70% of the plots of "piale", the large limestone plateau overlooking the city. The First World War forced the men to leave for the front and only a few families of winegrowers remained to take care of the vineyard. In the 80's, there were no more winegrowers in Bonifacio. You know the rest of the story: the Zuria family had owned land for more than a century and it is on these plots that native grape varieties were replanted.
Nadine and Christian Zuria, the second generation of the family, joined forces with Yves Canarelli in the early days. Their first harvest took place in 2016 and very quickly the 11 hectares of the estate, spread over different parcels located in Stintinu, Musella, and Spinella, showed their character. The vineyard quickly undertook to be certified in organic farming and little by little, is turning to biodynamic practices. We find the great Corsican classics: Sciaccarellu in red and Vermentinu in white, as well as other indigenous varieties. The soil on which these grape varieties grow is also unusual for the region, since it is clay-limestone. The Zuria wine estate's gravity-fed cellar is buried 4 meters underground, ideal conditions for making and maturing the wines. Since 2021, a new cellar is being built at the entrance of Bonifacio to accommodate the customers of the Zuria Estate.
The Zuria wine estate offers several ranges, first of all Aria, which we find in rosé and red: these are fresh, expressive and balanced wines that we recommend for superb moments of conviviality. The Initiale range is available in the three colors, it is a work a little more plot-based. These are harmonious, ample and complex wines to be enjoyed throughout a meal. Finally, we find special vintages with Santa Giulia is a very fine Vermentino from a granitic soil while the Crocci vintage is also a 100% Vermentino lively and precise this time from a limestone soil. As for the cuvée Stintinu de Zuria, it fully expresses the generous and unique character of Sciaccarello on this characteristic limestone plateau of Bonifacio.

Domaine Zuria starts strong with this Aria range, especially this red wine from Bonifacio. Everything is there to spend a delicious moment: finesse, freshness and aromatic intensity. Smell this wine and you will instantly find yourself in Corsica with its small red fruits, its spices...
It can be said that this cuvée Initiale Red Wine completely sublimates the Sciaccarellu, it is a wine of character which keeps all the time the beautiful drinkability proper to the variety. The tannins are melted and silky, just like the texture in mouth. As for the aromatic framework, it is established around fruity and spicy notes. A very nice vintage!
A blend of Biancu Gentile, Genovese and Vermentino, Initiale White has a nose of white flowers and ripe fruit such as peach and pear, which is also present on the mid-palate. The length, minerality and fullness that characterize this cuvée demonstrate its ageing potential, which can be extended for up to ten years.
In a total spirit of parcels and terroir, Stintinu Red Wine is one of the great Corsican wines to be tasted at least once in your life. We fully feel the insular and aromatic character of Sciaccarellu on this vintage with its extreme purity and depth. You will not be disappointed!
Crocci White wine is an exceptional plot-based white wine, with a flowery, fruity nose that also features hints of spice and butter. The palate is lively and mineral, recalling the aromas of white flowers and pear on the nose. This Corsican white wine is undoubtedly made for laying down in the cellar!
