The domain
Jo Landron has made himself known thanks to his promotion of the most beautiful terroirs of the Muscadet Sèvre and Maine appellation. As a seasoned winemaker and a great lover of nature, biodynamics no longer have secrets for him, enter the universe of the Muscadets of Domaine Landron.
In 1945 Pierre and Julien Landron, Joseph’s father and uncle, bought 3 hectares of land in La Haye-Fouassière to establish the family farm. In 1967, the brothers stopped their collaboration while Jo Landron began helping his father and bought plots in 1979. 1987 marked a real turning point in the cultural practices of the estate since a weedkiller almost poisoned the vines. Since then, these products have been banned from the vineyard. From 1999, Jo Landron began his conversion into organic farming on about twenty hectares and in 2002, the Landron wine estate was certified Ecocert. Subsequently, biodynamics will come with the award of the Biodyvin label in 2011. Today, Domaine Landron is a company that places human and environmental values at the heart of its operation.
It all began in 1982, when the vinifications became separated for each plot. Since 1990, Jo Landron has completely removed synthetic pesticides from his vineyard and this has had the effect of distinguishing the various terroirs on which he defined his ranges in 1993: Amphibolite, clay sandstone for Les Houx and Orthogneiss and quartz for Le Fief du Breil. In 2002, Domaine Landron is certified in organic farming, which confirms its intention to move towards greater respect for the environment. From meetings to meetings, Jo Landron also turned to biodynamics under the advice of Pierre Masson in 2005. The goal: produce live wines, representative of their flagship grape variety, the Melon de Bourgogne.
As previously said, there are several ranges of wines in the Muscadet Sèvre and Maine sur Lie appellation at Domaine Jo Landron. The famous but also the most confidential cuvée is called Amphibolite, which offers a lively and complex version of the Muscadet. La Louvetrie offers more roundness and flexibility, an almost tender wine signed by Mr. Landron. We find on Les Houx a very interesting evolution potential, since it skates over the years by bringing notes of exotic fruits. Finally, Fief du Breil, the premium cuvée of Domaine Landron pushes even further the intensity and depth of the Melon de Bourgogne. It can be enjoyed after 10 years of guarding in the cellar.
