1.5L Wine Magnums: The Format for Special Occasions

A magnum is more than just a larger bottle. At 1.5 litres, the equivalent of two standard bottles, it embodies the art of sharing around a table. Beyond its volume, the magnum offers unique ageing conditions: a more favourable wine-to-oxygen ratio that allows fine wines to gain complexity over the years. At Infinivin, we have selected magnums from some of France's finest estates, from the iconic South to the country's historic wine regions.

Why Choose a Wine Magnum

A magnum is about more than just quantity. It's a format that enhances how a wine ages over time. The surface area where wine meets air under the cork remains the same as in a standard 75cl bottle, but the volume of wine is doubled. The result: slower oxidation, more harmonious ageing, and aromas that develop with greater finesse. This is why collectors and wine lovers favour magnums for cellar-worthy wines.

It's also a format built for sharing. A bottle that makes a statement, anchors a meal, and adds meaning to a family gathering, a wedding, a birthday or a business dinner.

Our Selection of Magnums by Region

To suit every preference and food pairing, our collection comes in all three colors. Whether you are looking for a fresh, convivial rosé for summer gatherings, an elegant and crisp white to pair with fish and seafood, or a structured red crafted for cellaring and rich meat dishes, you will find the perfect format for every occasion.

Our cellar brings together magnums from the terroirs we champion most. You'll first find a wide selection of Provence magnums, including large-format rosés from Miraval or Minuty, perfect for summer gatherings. The Rhône Valley is also well represented, with powerful reds and cellar-worthy cuvées. Sparkling wine lovers will find our selection of Champagne magnums from renowned houses such as Ruinart and Louis Roederer, as well as independent winemakers. Our cellar also includes rare Jura magnums, Languedoc-Roussillon bottlings, and a few standout Bordeaux pieces such as the Château de Pez magnum from Saint-Estèphe, alongside Burgundy and Corsica magnums for those seeking something truly exceptional.

The Magnum: An Exceptional Gift Idea

Giving a magnum marks the occasion. A birth-year vintage for a birthday, a wedding gift to be kept for anniversaries to come, a professional thank-you, or a present for a discerning wine lover: the magnum naturally carries a message of prestige. For a gift that hits the mark, also take a look at our gift boxes.

How to Store and Serve a Magnum

A magnum is best stored lying down, at a stable temperature between 12 and 14°C, away from light. When serving, it's recommended to open it one to two hours in advance for full-bodied reds, or even decant it for cellar-worthy wines. In terms of quantity, a magnum comfortably serves eight to ten guests over the course of a meal.
