Located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, Domaine De Ladoucette produces great white wines from Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre and is today known as the world reference of Sauvignon. La Doucette is also well known for its rare cuvée «Baron de L» in the Pouilly Fumé appellation.
The Domaine De Ladoucette has become a must in the Loire Valley and for good reason, its beginnings date back to the end of the eighteenth century while the famous family of Comtes Lafond owns the most prestigious vineyard of Pouilly Fumé. From 1972, Baron Patrick De Ladoucette, great-grandson of the family, devoted himself entirely to the cultivation of the vineyard. He also expanded the property by buying Le Clos de La Poussie in Sancerre, allowing to diversify and increase its production of great wines La Doucette.
The wines of Pouilly Fumé La doucette possess the characteristic markers of Sauvignon blanc; notes of flint stone, hawthorn as well as a nice minerality and citrus aromas on the palate. There is also a vintage «200e vendange» created to honour the exceptional history of the Domaine Ladoucette. These are wines that go through the ages, with a very interesting aging potential. In the 90s, the Baron de Ladoucette also created several great vintages of Sancerre wines, expressing the quintessence of this unique terroir.
The cuvée «Baron de L» from Domaine de Ladoucette was created in the 1970s, it is produced only to give great vintages because it is the mythical cuvée of La doucette. An ageing of 15 months on fine lees is necessary for the elaboration of these immense cuvées of the Loire Valley. On the nose and on the palate, we find aromas of honey, pear and elderberry as well as notes of smoke and flint emblematic of the vineyard of Pouilly Fumé. Baron de L from Ladoucette has an incomparable finesse and complexity and ranks easily among the greatest Sauvignons in the world.
