Bandol is also an amphitheatre oriented towards the sea, the maritime entrances have a huge influence on the wines, giving them an exceptional balance and salinity.
The vineyard of Bandol covers an area of approximately 1600 hectares in 8 communes of Var department: Bandol, Le Beausset, Le Castellet, La Cadière d’Azur, Saint Cyr-sur-mer, Sainte-Anne d’Evenos, Sanary-sur-Mer and Ollioules. The Bandol Appellation has a fairly binding specification: mandatory manual harvest, 18 months of ageing in barrels or lightning that will allow Bandol Reds to be more ample and soft in mouth, yields not exceeding 40 hectolitres per hectare... In short, “Can't be Bandol who wants!”
The vineyard produces 3 colors of a great typicity:
Rosé Bandol: Roundness, fruity and generosity.
Red Bandol: Generosity, finesse, power, and above all great solar character.
Bandol white: Rather rare but it is a pity because Bandol Whites have a remarkable complex aromatic palette. The grape variety king of Bandol Red wine is the famous Mourvèdre, a difficult, demanding and above all unusual variety that brings structure and freshness to Bandol wines. It requires a strong sunshine because it is a slow-ripe grape variety. As an accessory, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault play on the register of fruity and spices.
Bandol’s wines benefit from an international reputation thanks to its terroir favouring the production of high quality wines. Discover the wines of the most renowned wine estates of Bandol: Château de Pibarnon, Tempier, Castell Reynoard, Gros'Noré, La Tour du Bon, Domaine Ott..
