Alcohol-Free Wine: Our Dealcoholised Wine Selection

Alcohol-free wines are attracting more and more wine lovers looking for a convivial and modern alternative. Crafted from real wines and then dealcoholized using innovative processes, they retain much of their aroma and character. Whether red, white, rosé, or sparkling, alcohol-free wines offer a tasting experience accessible to everyone—ideal for meals, social occasions, or simply enjoying the pleasure of wine without the effects of alcohol.

Long limited to a handful of niche cuvées, alcohol-free wine is establishing itself as a category in its own right, driven by advances in dealcoholization techniques. At Infinivin, we have selected cuvées that best capture the fruit and structure of a traditional wine across the main styles: red, white, rosé, and sparkling.

How Alcohol-Free Wine Is Made

An alcohol-free wine starts out as a classic wine, crafted using traditional winemaking methods. The alcohol is then removed through physical processes designed to preserve as much of the original wine's aromas as possible.

Two main techniques co-exist:

  • Reverse osmosis passes the wine through a membrane that separates the alcohol from the other components while keeping the aromatic molecules intact.
  • Vacuum distillation heats the wine to a low temperature (around 30 °C) under partial vacuum: under these conditions, the alcohol evaporates without the aromas being damaged by heat.

Regulations allow wine to be labeled "alcohol-free" if it contains less than 0.5% ABV, an unavoidable residual amount left after dealcoholization.

Our Alcohol-Free Wines by Style

Our selection covers all four major categories: alcohol-free red wine, white wine, rosé wine, and sparkling wine. Maison Pierre Chavin is well represented with its single-varietal cuvées featuring Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and sparkling Chardonnay. Domaine de la Rouillère, with its Rouillère Amazing range, offers alcohol-free sparkling wines in white and rosé, taking a more gastronomic approach. These cuvées suit the same occasions as a classic wine, with the added benefit of being shareable with every guest, regardless of their relationship with alcohol.

When to Serve It

Alcohol-free wine naturally fits a working lunch, a long meal where guests don't want to stack up glasses, or an evening out for anyone driving. It also keeps the ritual of wine at the table alive for pregnant women, people watching their diet, athletes, or anyone looking to cut back on alcohol without giving up the pleasure of tasting.

Serving Alcohol-Free Wine

Alcohol-free wine is served at the same temperatures as its alcoholic counterpart: 14 to 16 °C for a red, 8 to 10 °C for a white or rosé, and 6 to 8 °C for a sparkling wine. Once opened, its shelf life is slightly shorter than a classic wine, as alcohol naturally acts as a preservative. Expect 2 to 3 days in the fridge for a white or rosé, and 1 to 2 days for a red, keeping the bottle tightly sealed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does alcohol-free wine really contain 0% alcohol?

Regulations allow wine to be labeled "alcohol-free" if it contains less than 0.5% ABV. These residual traces are impossible to extract completely during the dealcoholization process. This level stays very low, comparable to that of some naturally fermented fruit juices.

Is alcohol-free wine suitable for pregnant women?

Since most alcohol-free wines contain less than 0.5% ABV, drinking them is generally considered low-risk during pregnancy. It is still recommended to check with a doctor or midwife before consuming them regularly.

Does alcohol-free wine taste the same as classic wine?

No, dealcoholization changes the wine's balance, particularly its texture and length on the palate. The best cuvées manage to retain much of the fruit and aroma, but the result remains different from a classic wine. Quality depends heavily on the base wine used and the process chosen.

Is alcohol-free wine lower in calories?

Yes, noticeably. Alcohol accounts for a significant share of the calories in a classic wine. A dealcoholized wine keeps the calories from residual sugars but eliminates those from alcohol, making it a much lighter drink calorie-wise.

How should alcohol-free wine be stored?

Before opening, at a stable temperature and away from light, just like a classic wine. After opening, its shelf life is shorter: 2 to 3 days in the fridge for a white or rosé, and 1 to 2 days for a red, with the bottle tightly sealed.
