Louis Roederer is one of the oldest and most influential Champagne wineries. It is a creator of singular tastes thanks to its vineyard classified as Grands Crus and its parcellar vinifications. We all know the Cristal's success story, a must-see since its creation in 1876.

LOUIS ROEDERER, A HISTORIC CHAMPAGNE HOUSE

The Roederer story began in 1776 with the founding of the House in Reims, but it was in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited it. He went on to create a unique style and character for his champagnes and to acquire plots of Grand Cru vineyards. Today, the House of Louis Roederer remains a family-run business and is headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, representing the seventh generation. The Louis Roederer vineyard, covering 250 hectares and situated exclusively in the Grand Crus and Premiers Crus of the Marne, comprises 420 plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a few touches of Pinot Meunier, across the three main terroirs of Champagne: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs.

Maison Louis Roederer practices family viticulture and assumes that to make the best possible wines, everything starts in the vineyard and respect the nature that surrounds it. Louis Roederer Champagnes is the essence of these human and fundamental values. The protection of biodiversity, the replanting of old vines as well as their selection and the work of the horse in the most beautiful terroirs of the property are major concerns. Roederer’s peculiarity also comes from its small tanks, which make it possible to establish a very wide aromatic palette. Each year, 4 months are dedicated to the assembly of the next Louis Roederer cuvées.

CRISTAL, THE CREATION OF LEGENDARY CHAMPAGNES

The iconic cuvée from Maison Louis Roederer is, of course, Cristal Roederer, created especially for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Having been the target of several assassination attempts, he feared being poisoned. It was therefore necessary to design a transparent bottle with a flat base to allay any suspicions of explosives. As well as being a stunning bottle, Cristal Roederer champagne is also an elixir: its complexity, depth and mouthfeel have stood the test of time. It is also available as a rosé.

Louis Roederer produces multi-vintage and vintage cuvées that feature amongst its flagship ranges: Collection, Vintage, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs… Also worth mentioning is the Brut Nature, created in collaboration with the French designer Philippe Starck: this is a vintage champagne with very little, if any, dosage. Louis Roederer champagnes are highly renowned, symbols of elegance and luxury.
