The sommelier info
The Kurayoshi pays tribute to the town of the same name and embodies the Japanese philosophy of precision, patience and the constant pursuit of balance.
The nose of this whisky opens with delicate aromas of pear, ripe apple and yellow fruits, quickly joined by notes of honey, vanilla, toasted oak and white flowers. As it breathes, nuances of caramel, almond and a slight hint of spice emerge.
On the palate, the attack is smooth and silky. Flavours of ripe fruit, malted grains and vanilla develop into notes of white chocolate, mild spices and delicately toasted wood. The finish is long, elegant and perfectly balanced, leaving a pleasant sensation of sweetness and freshness.
The Kurayoshi Single Malt is made exclusively from malted barley. Following careful distillation, the whisky is matured for several years in oak casks, using a combination of casks that previously held bourbon and, depending on the batch, occasionally sherry, in order to develop a rich aromatic profile without masking the finesse of the distillate.
Spring water, naturally filtered by the mountains of Tottori, is used during dilution, lending the whisky a smoothness and elegance.
