Zacapa 23 rum is developed through an ageing process based on the “sistema solera” technique during which rums of different ages and profiles are assembled and then aged in a succession of barrels.
This rum is the result of a blend of añejos rums (old rums) and rums known to be sweeter. The first barrels were used to preserve robust American whiskeys, the second of delicate sherry and the last of elegant Pedro Ximenez wines.
