The domain

The Marc Kreydenweiss wine estate, guided by the principles of biodynamic viticulture, is now in its 13th generation. Located in Andlau, Alsace, it is one of the first estates in the region to adopt these production methods. Thanks to the visionary approach and ambition of the Kreydenweiss family, these wines have become key references in the region.

HISTORY OF THE MARC KREYDENWEISS ESTATE IN ALSACE

The making of Marc Kreydenweiss wines is first and foremost a family affair. The family has been established in Andlau since the end of the 19th century. The marriage of René Kreydenweiss in 1945 marked the beginning of the estate's development, which was strengthened in 1971 by the succession of his son Marc, who quickly adopted biodynamic viticulture. A pioneer in Alsace, he contributed to the creation of the Grand Cru appellation in 1989. Since 2007, Antoine Kreydenweiss (one of his sons) has managed the wine estate, continuing the family legacy, with wines made exclusively from the estate's own grapes since 2020.

MARC KREYDENWEISS: BIODYNAMICS, TERROIRS AND GRAPE VARIETIES

Marc Kreydenweiss's Alsace estate, which converted to biodynamic viticulture in 1989, stands out for its pioneering commitment in Alsace. This method, which goes beyond organic farming, is based on lunar cycles, natural preparations and particular attention to the vitality of the soil, with the aim of creating a harmonious ecosystem. Marc Kreydenweiss's vineyards cover 13.5 hectares of varied terroirs (marl, limestone, schist), with plots on renowned grands crus such as Kastelberg and Wiebelsberg, favouring the cultivation of Alsace grape varieties (Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc).

STYLE AND VINTAGES OF MARC KREYDENWEISS

Marc Kreydenweiss's wines are distinguished by their precision, freshness, minerality and faithful expression of the terroir. Biodynamic viticulture produces lively, energetic and elegant wines with intense aromas. The Kreydenweiss family favours low yields to concentrate quality, and practises minimalist vinification with indigenous yeasts and little sulphur. Marc Kreydenweiss's flagship cuvées include the Riesling Grand Cru Kastelberg, renowned for its minerality and ageing potential, and the rich, powerful Pinot Gris Moenchberg. The wines are characterised by their purity, complexity and precision.

In 1999, Domaine Kreydenweiss was born in the Languedoc, in the Costières de Nîmes region. Today under the management of Jean, one of Marc's sons, this project reflects the family's desire to diversify their production while remaining faithful to their biodynamic approach.
