The domain
Located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, Domaine De Ladoucette produces fine white wines from Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre and is now known as the benchmark for Sauvignon. La Doucette is also well known for its rare cuvée ‘Baron de L de Ladoucette’ in the Pouilly Fumé appellation.
Domaine De Ladoucette has become a staple of the Loire Valley, and for good reason: its beginnings date back to the late 18th century, when the famous Comtes Lafond family owned the most prestigious vineyard in Pouilly Fumé. From 1972 onwards, Baron Patrick De Ladoucette, the family's great-grandson, devoted himself entirely to viticulture. He also expanded the estate by purchasing Le Clos de La Poussie in Sancerre, enabling him to diversify and increase his production of La Doucette fine wines.
La Doucette Pouilly Fumé wines have the characteristic markers of Sauvignon Blanc: notes of flint and hawthorn, as well as a lovely minerality and citrus aromas on the palate. There is also a ‘200th harvest’ cuvée created to honour the exceptional history of Domaine Ladoucette. These are wines that stand the test of time, with very interesting ageing potential. In the 1990s, Baron de Ladoucette also created several great Sancerre wine cuvées, expressing the quintessence of this unique terroir.
The ‘Baron de L’ cuvée from Domaine de Ladoucette was created in the 1970s and is produced exclusively for great vintages, as it is La Doucette's legendary cuvée. These magnificent Loire Valley cuvées require 15 months of ageing on fine lees. On the nose and palate, there are aromas of honey, pear and elderflower, as well as the smoky and flinty notes that are emblematic of the Pouilly Fumé vineyard. Baron de L from Ladoucette has unrivalled finesse and complexity and easily ranks among the greatest Sauvignons in the world.
