En Quatre Vis comes from Cesancey, where approximately 50-year-old Chardonnay vines grow on white Lias marl topped with limestone, naturally balancing ripeness and freshness. Following direct pressing of whole bunches and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine spends 22 months in neutral demi-muids, gaining depth without losing its sense of place. Ripe white fruit, citrus and delicate floral nuances flow into a broad, textured palate, lifted by mineral tension and a long, chalky finish.

The nose gradually unfolds with notes of ripe white fruit, pear, and citrus, accompanied by delicate floral nuances. As the wine breathes, a more complex profile emerges, with hints of dried fruit and a slightly buttery quality that enriches the overall profile without weighing it down.

The palate has lovely density and a full-bodied texture, immediately balanced by a very pronounced mineral tension. Ripe fruit blends with hints of citrus and almond before the wine gradually tightens up. The long, chalky finish stimulates the salivary glands, highlighting the character of the terroir.

The domain

Based in Sainte-Agnès, in the southern part of the Jura wine region, Domaine des Marnes Blanches is run by Pauline and Géraud Fromont. The estate takes its name from the white marl soils found in part of its vineyards and works with traditional Jura grape varieties through a range of distinctive cuvées, with particular attention paid to individual vineyard sites. Their approach produces precise, vibrant wines that express the diversity of the Jura's soils with remarkable personality.
