Château Lalande Borie

Château Lalande-Borie is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Saint-Julien appellation, created in 1970 by Jean-Eugène Borie, a Bordeaux wine merchant and owner of the prestigious Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. It began with 18 hectares acquired from Château Lagrange, supplemented by other plots to form a 30-hectare estate now managed by his children, Sabine Coiffe and Bruno Borie, and entirely dedicated to red wine.

A single vineyard plot in the heart of the great growths

The vineyard stands out for being planted in a single contiguous block, which is relatively rare in Saint-Julien, where the vineyards of the different châteaux are often divided into separate plots. Its 22 hectares of vines occupy the western plateau of the appellation, surrounded by several Second and Third Growths from the 1855 classification, on gravel soils over a clay subsoil that provide good drainage while naturally regulating the vines' water supply.

The expertise of a renowned Bordeaux family

Château Lalande-Borie bears the name of the family that also owns Ducru-Beaucaillou, one of the most renowned Saint-Julien estates in the 1855 classification. This connection is reflected in a classic Médoc varietal blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its classification as a Cru Bourgeois since 2008 recognises the consistent quality of this younger estate, produced with the same exacting standards as the family's neighbouring classified growths.

A generous and well-balanced wine

The resulting wine has an intense ruby colour with violet hues and a broad aromatic profile of black fruit, blackcurrant, blueberry, red flowers, spices and a hint of liquorice. The palate is full, round and generous, with ripe tannins that suggest excellent potential for further development in the cellar.
