Peyrassol
Domaine Peyrassol including the Commanderie de Peyrassol covers 950 hectares (including a hundred hectares of vines) and is located in the Massif des Maures in the commune of Flassans-sur-Issole. Peyrassol was formerly a stage place known for pilgrims.
THE TEMPLARS AT THE ORIGIN OF THE PEYRASSOL CHATEAU
Domaine Peyrassol and more precisely the Commanderie de Peyrassol is a field full of history since the 13rd century since it was created by the Order of Templars. In 2001, Peyrassol was bought by Philippe Austruy, a wine enthusiast, and gave him a new impetus. In that year, the work undertaken in the vineyard and in the chai was enormous. In 2003, Alban Cacaret, nephew of Philippe Austruy, managed the Commanderie de Peyrassol. In 2015, a new cuvier entirely dedicated to red wines was built. This winery makes it possible to vinify and red wines with an increased demand, while revealing the quality of the terroir.
PEYRASSOL: A PRIVATE VINEYARD
Domaine de Peyrassol is nestled in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, at an altitude of 330m. Its clay-limestone soil is an ideal candidate for viticulture. The development of the exceptional Château Peyrassol rosé, white and red passes the know-how and constant maintenance of the plots. Planted 800 years ago, the first grape varieties allowed the Peyrassol tradition to continue using state-of-the-art material. Thus, the harvest of reds and cuvée Clos Peyrassol is carried out by hand while the bunches intended for the rosé are harvested mechanically.
DOMAINE PEYRASSOL, GREAT WINES OF PROVENCE
Domaine Peyrassol is now one of the most renowned vineyards in Provence. Peyrassol wines, made from a dozen different varieties, express the quality of the terroir and know-how. The 3 emblematic AOC Côtes de Provence cuvées du Clos Peyrassol, Château Peyrassol and Commanderie Peyrassol are ranked among the greatest wines of the appellation. These fresh, refined, modern and delicate wines represent all Provence and more particularly “the Peyrassol style”. The little news, LOU by Peyrassol, is worn on red fruits, light and well balanced.
