The sommelier info
Château La Lagune is an estate classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Médoc classification. Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, the estate produces top-quality wines, including Moulin de la Lagune, its second wine.
The estate is owned by the Frey family, who also own other renowned estates such as Paul Jaboulet Aîné in the Rhône Valley.
Moulin de La Lagune is supple, fruity and elegant, with aromas of black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), spicy notes and hints of wood due to ageing in oak barrels. Its tannic structure is generally softer and it is made to be enjoyed younger than the grand vin, while still having good ageing potential (around 5 to 10 years). Moulin de la Lagune is an excellent choice for Bordeaux enthusiasts who want to discover an elegant, fruity wine with great finesse and reasonable ageing potential. It reflects the expertise and quality of Château La Lagune, while remaining more affordable and easy to enjoy in its youth.
It was matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new.
