The Glenlivet 18 Year Old Batch Reserve is crafted exclusively from malted barley and then matured for eighteen years in a carefully selected range of American oak and Spanish oak casks, all of which are first- or second-fill. This selection helps to preserve the distillate’s finesse whilst imparting a rich array of aromas.
The American oak casks reveal indulgent notes of vanilla, honey and ripe fruit, whilst the Spanish oak casks, previously used for sherry, develop deeper aromas of dried fruit, sweet spices and chocolate. The blending of these different maturations results in a particularly harmonious whisky, where the generous fruitiness is combined with an elegant floral profile, the hallmark of The Glenlivet style.
The nose reveals a rich bouquet blending ripe fruit – apricot, pear and apple – accompanied by notes of caramel, honey and toffee. The influence of the sherry casks brings nuances of dried fruit, orange peel and sweet spices, which grow in intensity as the whisky breathes.
On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety. Flavours of candied orange, vanilla, stewed apples and dried fruit are balanced by notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and delicately toasted oak. The finish is long, harmonious and lingering, characterised by raisins and spices – the hallmark of this great Speyside single malt.

The Glenlivet distillery is emblematic of the history of whisky in Scotland. Glenlivet built its reputation on being the first distillery in the Speyside region to have its practices legalised.
HISTORY OF THE GLENLIVET DISTILLERY
Established in the Livet Valley in the north of Scotland, George Smith founded his Glenlivet distillery and distilled his first whiskies. At the time, the area was far from anywhere, especially from controls. Nevertheless, he made a name for himself because in 1822, King George IV asked to taste this whisky, which was illegal at the time. Two years later, George Smith obtained his distiller's licence and received numerous threats from illegal distillers. The Glenlivet style of whisky was copied many times and its name borrowed. When George died in 1871, his youngest son John took over the family business and in 1884 acquired the rights to the name "The Glenlivet". In 1933, one of the first major customers was the Pullmain Train Company, which served the famous whisky on its journeys. This helped to make these whiskies known and appreciated beyond Scotland's borders. In 2015, master distiller Alan Winchester created The Glenlivet Founders Reserve, which has been one of the best-selling whiskies of the last 5 years.
THE GLENLIVET STYLE
Glenlivet whisky could be described as light, fruity and floral. The Glenlivet is considered to be "the Single Malt that launched the Single Malt". It is characterised by a fruity, well-balanced range of aromas, with an original ageing process. Discover this 13-year-old "First Fill" edition, named after the fact that it was matured for a dozen years in new oak casks. These casks have never contained any other Scotch whisky before this distillate, giving it notes of honey, chocolate and caramel. A fine drinker with a gourmet flavour, it also embodies the style of its region of origin, Speyside par excellence. Glenlivet is by extension the vision of its founder, George, who wanted to break with tradition and change the way people think about whisky, to modernise it and make the taste of single malt accessible to as many people as possible.
