The domain
Domaine de Châtenoy, also known as Domaine Isabelle et Pierre Clément, nestled in the heart of the Menetou-Salon appellation, is an emblematic family estate in the Centre-Loire region. For several generations and more than 4 centuries of history, the Clément family has perpetuated a winegrowing tradition of excellence, producing wines that faithfully reflect the richness of their terroir.
Extending over 60 hectares of clay-limestone slopes, Domaine Clément benefits from soils that give the wines remarkable minerality and finesse. These characteristics are typical of the best wines from Menetou-Salon, an appellation renowned for the quality of its white wines made from Sauvignon Blanc and its reds made from Pinot Noir.
Since 1560, the Clément family has been cultivating vines at Châtenoy, passing on precious know-how from generation to generation. Combining respect for tradition with oenological innovation, each generation has made its own contribution, while honoring the family heritage. Today, Isabelle and Pierre Clément have passed on their passion to their children, Anne and Pierre-Alexandre, continuing this quest for excellence. Their motto: “No good wine without good grapes”!
Aware of the importance of preserving the environment, Isabelle and Pierre Clément are committed to sustainable viticulture. Their respectful approach to nature aims to protect biodiversity and guarantee the quality of their wines, ensuring the long-term future of the estate for generations to come. The estate's wines are certified organic, but the approach goes far beyond the specifications: the vineyard is planted with permanent grass cover via what is known as “semi-cover”, i.e. growing cereals in the rows of vines to encourage insects and limit soil erosion. In the cellar, ozonated water is used for disinfection, which is highly effective and more respectful of the environment.
Domaine Clément offers a wide range of wines. The white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc, are distinguished by their freshness and aromatic complexity. Red wines, made from Pinot Noir, offer fruity aromas and an elegant tannic structure. Notable cuvées include Clement Menetou Salon White and Menetou Salon Clement Red, appreciated for their authentic expression of terroir.
