At the Domaine de la Noblaie with a surface of 24 ha located on the left bank of the Vienna, Jérome Billard and Élodie Peyrussie cultivate the vineyard with respect to natural balances in order to offer unique, authentic wines, reflecting the great terroir of Chinon. La Noblaie’s family farm is located in Vau Breton, meaning “the Cabernet Franc Valley” in Rabelaisien.
Domaine de la Noblaie is a property formerly used for polyculture, especially viticulture around the estate. In 1952, the Manzagol family originally and Corrèze and expatriate in Paris had a crush on the property and bought it back. Three generations of winegrowers succeeded each other and saw La Noblaie’s vineyard grow: from 1953 with 5 hectares, until 2012 with 24 hectares. The year 2003 also marks the 50th harvest of Domaine de la Noblaie and the desire to produce quality wines, representative of the Chinon terroir and of every characteristic of each vintage is still there to date.
La Noblaie Chinon is carried out in organic farming on slopes and trays of tuffeau and clay, so the harvests remain manual and a stripping is carried out in order to select the clusters entering the different assemblages. Yield control is also carried out, harvesting green if necessary. The plots of La Noblaie are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, the macerations are carried out in a vat dating from the XV-XVII century and carved in the tuffeau. Ancestral methods such as manual pigging and bucket decay are also practiced. Domaine de la Noblaie wishes to maintain a artisanal approach to produce structured and generous wines.
Domaine de la Noblaie produces white, rosé and red Chinon wines, as well as a sparkling Touraine wine. Indeed, La Noblaie is renowned for its Chenin plots which offer fine and elegant white Chinon wines such as the Chante le Vent cuvée. The other star of the wine estate remains Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley, which expresses itself on notes of violet, acidic red fruits and spices. Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon Le Temps des Cerises is a remarkable, intense and silky cuvée. Les Chiens Chiens has more finesse and a very pleasant softness for Les Blancs Manteaux.
