The domain
La Punta means “the hill” in Corsica, however it is a parcel of the vineyard of Aléria that gave its name to the estate. The Domaine de la Punta is also located on the same axis as Porto Vecchio, with plots in small to medium hills enjoying optimal sunlight.
Alain Lugarini and François Paoli are the creators of Domaine de la Punta, these two friends from Venaco and Tallone have decided to vinify their own grapes after working as a cooperative in the past. In 2003, La Punta was born on the 198 National Route, a major axis for visitors and locals who travel from North to South and vice versa. 30,000 bottles of Domaine de la Punta were produced from the first 10 hectares acquired at the creation of the farm. In 2014, La Punta also acquired half a hectare of Carcaghjolu and Muresconu, which brought more character and originality to the wines produced.
Located on clay-limestone soils, the plots of Domaine de la Punta are on average 20 years old. There are native varieties such as Niellucciu to produce red wines, Sciaccarellu for rosé wines and Vermentinu, as well as Biancu Gentile used to produce the white wines of Punta. Grenache and Syrah also complete the assemblages. The estate operates in reasoned agriculture, with the help of plowing and organic amendments in the vines. Yields are also rather low to focus on quality over quantity.
Domaine de la Punta produces two ranges of wines, as well as monocepages. The Domaine de la Punta range allows you to enjoy simple and digestible wines, with a balance and a pleasant freshness. The Balianu range plays in a completely different register as it possesses more generosity and body. Indeed, one discovers a complexity and a woody character that further increases its finesse at tasting. The monocepages of La Punta allow you to discover the richness and mastery of the terroir of this island from a different angle, elegance and power with the Minustellu and a bold vivacity on this pretty Biancu Gentile of the Domaine de la Punta.
