Domaine Giacometti

Domaine Giacometti is located in the heart of the Agriate desert in Casta, near Bastia. This emblematic place of the Corsican culture must be protected and respected in order to promote the rich terroir of Giacometti.

DOMAINE GIACOMETTI : A FAMILY AFFAIR

Created in 1965, it was taken over in 1987 by Laurent Giacometti and his son Christian Giacometti. Christian and his wife Corinne have taken over the entire Domaine Giacometti since 1997. Joined by their daughter Sarah in 2006 and their son Simon two years later, this third generation reinforces the family’s desire to cultivate the plots of land of Domaine Giacometti with talent and respect. Simon Giacometti represents the dynamic rising generation of the appellation Vin de Corse Patrimonio and is convinced, just like Christian Giacometti, that an expressive wine must be aromatic and reveal its terroir and its origins.

GIACOMETTI : THE VALORIZATION OF THE PATRIMONIO TERROIR

Domaine Giacometti is a unique terroir in Patrimonio wines because the soils are clay-granitic (Patrimonio is normally on clay-limestone) and the area is very arid. When Laurent bought Domaine Giacometti, he was warned: "This is the village where it rains elsewhere". The 32-hectare Domaine Giacometti is planted mainly with Niellucciu, Sciacarellu, Vermentinu and a little Grenache and Syrah. The soil is worked mechanically and no chemical weeding: the conversion to Organic Agriculture and obtaining the AB label vintage 2017 were obvious.

GIACOMETTI CORSICAN WINE : EXCEPTIONAL WINES

Domaine Giacometti produces several vintages in AOP Patrimonio and Vin de France: Cuvée Sarah in red and white, Cuvée Cru des Agriates in red, rosé and white, the cuvée Sempre Contentu red (100% Sciacarellu), the cuvée Sempre Arezzu red and the cuvée Sciacarellu rosé. The red wines of the Giacometti estate are all the more appreciable as they have a very good ageing potential whereas the Giacometti white and rosé Corsican wines are rather fresh and fruity.
