Domaine des Terres Dorées is located in Charnay-en-Beaujolais. Les Terres Dorees comprises 44 hectares and Jean Paul Brun has become an iconic figure as his wines are among the best Beaujolais.
Domaine des Terres Dorées is a family farm run by Jean Paul Brun in the southwest of Beaujolais. Located in the Golden Stones region, it has given its name to Domaine Terres Dorees. Jean-Paul’s father had previously acquired 4 hectares and initially brought his grapes to a cooperative. He decided for some time to create his estate and Jean Paul Brun took it in hand in 1979. More than 30 vinifications have been made since its creation, moving from a polyculture estate to an exclusively wine-growing estate.
Jean Paul Brun has always placed respect for the environment at the heart of his concerns, which allowed him to take an interest in organic viticulture methods. Indeed, the Domaine des Terres Dorées comprises 19 hectares of Gamay, 8 of Chardonnay, 2 of Pinot Noir and 1 of Roussanne. There are then several wines of Beaujolais, with 5 hectares of Fleurie, 4 from Moulin à Vent, 4 from Brouilly and finally 1 from Morgon. The soils are ploughed, the harvests are manual and copper as well as the suffering are preferred.
Jean Paul Brun also built his fame on the conscientious work of the flagship grape varieties of Domaine des Terres Dorées, Gamay and Chardonnay. Thus, his Beaujolais are of great drinkability and have a good guard potential. Its cuvée L’Ancien bears witness to this with its notes of candied orange and the smoky peculiar to the terroir of Les Terres Dorées. More powerful and spicy, the superior cuvée Le Buissy is also a very nice surprise. Moulin-à-vent is rather floral and offers aromas of lilies, peony and lilac. A lot of purity and sweetness emerge from the wines of Jean Paul Brun once in the mouth. The 2 cuvées in Beaujolais Blanc are chardonnay with a very nice purity. To discover absolutely!
