Moët et Chandon
Champagne House Moët & Chandon is one of the most famous and prestigious champagne houses in France. Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, it is located in Épernay, and is part of the LVMH group (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), one of the world's largest luxury groups.
MOET & CHANDON, AN EXCEPTIONAL VINEYARD
The Maison Moët vineyard is the largest in the region, covering almost 1,300 hectares of rich limestone soil, 50% of which is classified as Grand Cru and 25% as Premier Cru.
The vineyards are located in the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, Sézanne and Aube.
Moët & Chandon owns a very large number of crus: 75% of the Champagne vineyards (234 of the 319 crus de Champagne), 100% of the 17 Grands Crus and 70% of the 44 Premiers Crus (31 villages).
THE HISTORY OF MOET ET CHANDON
The company's history is marked by a tradition of quality and innovation.
Founded by Claude Moët in 1743, the House became very famous towards the end of the 18th century, thanks to Jean-Remy Moët, known as the man who introduced champagne to the world. He became particularly famous thanks to his friendship with Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the house on several occasions.
Throughout the 20th century, Moët & Chandon continued to grow, becoming one of the world's leading champagne houses.
Moët & Chandon has been behind many innovations in the world of champagne. In addition to Dom Pérignon, it launched the famous Moët Impérial cuvée in 1869 as a tribute to Napoleon. Today, Moët Impérial is one of the world's best-selling champagnes.
Today, the house is owned by LVMH and the cellar master is Benoît Gouez.
MOET IMPERIAL
The Moët & Chandon style is singular: bright fruit, a savory palate and elegant maturity, the result of a slow, gradual progression from vineyard to cellar.
Moët & Chandon is renowned for its exceptional champagnes, in particular its emblematic Moët Impérial.
