The Sancerre Le Chêne Marchand from the Lucien Crochet estate is a fine white wine from the Loire, grown on the renowned stony and limestone terroirs of Bué, which lend the wine tension, brilliance and depth. The meticulous winemaking process aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir, with careful ageing on fine lees that brings out depth, energy and a lovely complexity on the palate.

Lucien Crochet is a very qualitative reference of the Sancerre vineyard. This experienced winemaker has been able to seduce and retain his clientele with wines from Sancerre Lucien Crochet de terroir and with surgical precision.

DOMAINE LUCIEN CROCHET: TRANSMISSION OF THE SAME PASSION

Domaine Lucien Crochet was born when the farms of André Crochet, his father, and Lucien Picard, his father-in-law, were merged. The latter was one of the pioneers of bottling in Sancerrois, which helped the development of the Domaine Lucien Crochet in Paris and export. Lucien Crochet has operated 38 ha for 30 years and now his son Gilles is at the head of the Domaine with the help of his wife Laurence. After completing his studies in oenology at Dijon and working at Domaine Dujac in Morey-Saint-Denis, Gilles Crochet returned to Sancerre in 1983 to develop the family estate.

DOMAINE CROCHET SANCERRE, A VINEYARD BUILT ON AN EXCEPTIONAL TERROIR

Domaine Lucien Crochet grows 2 different varieties: Sauvignon for white wine and Pinot Noir for red and rosé wines of the Loire Valley. This 35-hectare vineyard, including 26 from Sauvignon and 9 from Pinot Noir, is mainly located in Bué but also in the communes of Sancerre, Vinon and Crézancy. Most of the plots of Lucien Crochet fall on high-quality clay-limestone soils at an altitude of between 240 and 280 metres. This allows for an optimal harvest and a privileged exposure, which can be felt in the wines of Sancerre Crochet.

LUCIEN CROCHET SANCERRE WHITE AND RED

The wines of Sancerre from Domaine Lucien Crochet have been raised among the must-sees of the appellation. Among them are the cuvée Lucien Crochet Sancerre Le Chêne Marchand, which comes from very popular plots on a terroir of pebbles and raised 10 months on lees and then 6 months on fine lees. It is a wine of gastronomy, ample and fine in the mouth with a typical mineral finish. The cuvée Les Calcaires is a blend of several plots from a predominantly clay-lime soil, this cuvée derives its name from the minerality and vivacity of its terroir. Finally, a red wine from Sancerre La Croix du Roy bred for 23 months in stainless steel barrels and tanks to produce a very elegant and flexible Pinot Noir.
