The domain

Olivier Jullien has built his reputation over the years and is now one of the flagships of Languedoc, with its great wines in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. Mas Jullien is one of the high-end wines of the region, to have tasted at least once in his life.

THE BEGINNINGS OF MAS JULLIEN’S VINEYARD

Olivier Jullien settled in Joncquières in the 80s, his neighbor being the famous Domaine de Montcalmès. What fascinates this outstanding winemaker is above all the search for terroirs allowing regional grape varieties to express themselves freely. His desire to do well and to push work further in the vineyard earned him the respect of many colleagues, who in turn wanted to work in the respect of the vine and nature. The wines of Mas Jullien are not certified but made without artifice because it is important to him. The 18 hectares of vineyards of Domaine Mas Jullien are located at the foot of the Larzac plateau.

OLIVIER JULLIEN AND HIS PARTICULAR APPROACH TO VITICULTURE

The plots of Mas Jullien are located on very diverse soils: limestone scree, silica, clay-limestone, sandstone and in a biological but uncertified approach. Some cuvées come from plots and small islets at altitude, notably Carlan at 200-400 m or Lous-Rougeos which is located near the plateau of Larzac. Many Languedocian grape varieties (but not only!) are grown by Olivier Jullien, who masters the art of blending as a person. We find for example the Carignan, the Grenache, the Chemin but also the Petit Manseng and Clairette on this atypical vineyard of Mas Jullien.

TERROIR WINES MAS JULLIEN TERRASSES DU LARZAC

Depth, sincerity and generosity, this is what perfectly characterises the wines produced by Olivier Jullien. Its aim is to convey the regional flavors and the passion that animates it through its wines. Red wines are mostly fresh and fruity while rosé is a reference: persistent, complex and digestible at the same time. The white wines of Mas Jullien are also appreciated for their finesse and lightness that transports us during the tasting. In summary, if you know the opportunity do not hesitate to open a bottle of Mas Jullien wine and savour it...
