Clos des Fées wines have been a success story ever since the first vintage was released. For the record: ‘Clos des Fées is a plot of vines where the fairies would live, if they existed. The place is very isolated, very beautiful, very wild, very romantic and inspired the name.’ Clos des Fées produces exceptional wines in the Roussillon.

HERVÉ BIZEUL: A GREAT ROUSSILLON WINEMAKER

The Clos des Fées wine estate was created in 1998 by Hervé Bizeul and his wife Claudine. A former sommelier and gastronomic critic, Hervé Bizeul worked in a number of wine-related professions before becoming a producer himself. The wines of Le Clos des Fees were noticed from the very first harvest, and were an instant success. Still made in the garage of their home in Vingrau, a tiny village nestling in one of the most mountainous areas of the Roussillon vineyards, the wines, from the simplest to the most refined, are now exported all over the world.

LE CLOS DES FEES: REASONED AND SENSIBLE VITICULTURE

Hervé Bizeul from Clos des Fées has also become a pioneer of ‘real viticulture’, which he has been promoting on his blog since the 1990s. Domaine du Clos des Fées currently covers around thirty hectares in the Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes appellations. The clay-limestone soils of the Clos des Fées are partly made up of steep terraces and are farmed using integrated viticulture methods. This means meticulous inspection of the plots, complete ploughing, manual harvesting and no use of any chemical treatments at Clos des Fees.

DOMAINE CLOS DES FEES VINTAGES

There are many different vintages at Domaine Clos des Fées, generally selected from very distinct plots of land. Hervé Bizeul's wines are available in white and red. The cuvées are diverse and varied, producing fruit wines such as Les Sorcières, cuvées from old vines with Clos des Fées Vieilles Vignes, but also parcel-based wines such as De Battre Mon Coeur S'est Arrêté, prestige cuvées with La Petite Sibérie and the emblematic Clos des Fées Vieilles Vignes cuvée.
