Nikka Coffey Grain is a Japanese whisky made in “Coffey still” column stills, imported directly from Scotland in 1963. These two-column stills create a richer, more complex whisky than modern stills. Discover this sublime Japanese Whisky from the Nikka distillery. First, a fresh, seductive nose reveals sweet notes of ripe pear, cherry juice and exotic fruit, with citrus fruits such as blood orange and lemon, and floral touches of apple blossom and cherry blossom. On opening, it becomes more gourmand, evoking coconut, bourbon vanilla and whipped cream chouquettes, enhanced by mint and a hint of musk.
On the palate, juicy and irresistible, it confirms the promise of the nose with an explosion of ripe fruit, rum (banana) and caramel. Complexity builds with nuances of zan, licorice and star anise, while the midpalate, dominated by pear nectar, evolves towards creamy flavors while retaining constant freshness.
Coffey Grain's finish is just as indulgent, opening with notes of pear and bourbon vanilla, fading delicately to a light bitterness.
