The sommelier info

Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010 Takashi Murakami is more than just champagne: it is a work of art in a bottle. Featuring the iconic design of the Japanese artist, it captures all the grandeur of a contrasting vintage, born during a harsh winter, a cool spring, and then a hot summer punctuated by rain, which required rigorous sorting of the grapes. Pinot Noir fruit predominates, imparting density, structure, and intensity, while Chardonnay brings finesse, tension, and elegance.

After more than a decade of aging in the cellar, this rosé opens with a rich bouquet combining red fruits (raspberry, wild strawberry), dried flowers, notes of cocoa and sweet spices, with more vegetal touches of leaves or privet. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and precise, combining fruity flesh with mineral tension and balanced freshness that supports a long, noble, slightly bitter finish with hints of cocoa and black cherry. The mineral and persistent finish is supported by a vibrant structure that prolongs this timeless moment. This is a champagne to be savored slowly, each sip revealing a new touch of complexity, between controlled power and absolute refinement.

This wine is served with

This Champagne Dom Pérignon x Takashi Murakami Rosé pairs brilliantly with a roasted fillet of turbot with crispy skin, topped with a citrus beurre blanc, or with roasted squab with a full-bodied bitter cocoa jus. To reveal its full complexity, serve it in a fairly large tulip glass at around 9-10°C.

The domain

For almost 350 years, Dom Pérignon has embodied excellence and innovation in the world of champagne. Heir to the tradition initiated by Dom Pierre Pérignon, the house is today a symbol of luxury, expertise and creativity, offering exceptional vintage champagnes. Thanks to Moët & Chandon's 1,200 hectares of vineyards, including 600 hectares classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, Dom Perignon benefits from a unique terroir. Now part of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) group, the house continues to push back the frontiers of the art of wine, while remaining a prestigious landmark.

CHAMPAGNE DOM PERIGNON: A HISTORIC HOUSE

Dom Pérignon, founded in 1668 by the monk Pierre Pérignon at Hautvillers Abbey, is an emblematic house that has transformed the art of winemaking. A visionary, Pierre perfected revolutionary viticultural techniques, laying the foundations for what would become the méthode champenoise. Today, the house remains true to its heritage, offering vintage champagnes that capture the unique essence of each year.

DOM PERIGNON'S WINEMAKING SECRETS

Winemaking at Dom Pérignon is based on meticulous selection of grapes from the finest terroirs classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. From 1990 to 2009, Richard Geoffroy will have created no fewer than 15 different vintages of Dom Perignon, and will be the creator of the Plénitudes cuvées. Under the direction of cellar master Vincent Chaperon, each vintage is a bold reinterpretation of the terroir, with particular attention paid to the climatic conditions of each year. This precise blending process creates wines that are both complex and balanced, while taking risks, such as not declaring a vintage when standards are not met.

DISCOVERING THE DIFFERENT DOM PÉRIGNON CHAMPAGNE

Dom Pérignon is best known for its three major vintage cuvées: Vintage, Rosé and Plénitude 2. Vintage, marketed 9 years after the vintage, is distinguished by its complex aromatic notes, Rosé is renowned for its boldness and depth, while Plénitude 2 (known as P2), after an extended maturation period of 12-15 years, reveals a new expression of Dom Perignon champagne. Artistic collaborations with figures such as Jeff Koons, Iris van Herpen, Lenny Kravitz, or more recently Jean-Michel Basquiat or Lady Gaga, reinforce the prestige of the house, combining contemporary creativity with timeless savoir-faire.
