The domain
Château Puech Haut is located in Saint-Drézery, a small village between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cévennes. Today, the Puech Haut vineyard covers 184 hectares of vines in the Languedoc's flagship appellations: Vin de France, Igp Oc, Coteaux-du-Languedoc and Pic Saint-Loup.
The success story of Puech Haut began around ten years ago when Gérard Bru, an ambitious salesman, realised his dream of creating one of the Languedoc's flagship vineyards. After buying his first plot, which at the time was covered in scrubland and olive trees, everything went very quickly, thanks to the invaluable advice of Michel Rolland between 1996 and 2006. Gérard Bru wanted the wines of Château Puech Haut to reflect the exceptional terroir in which they were born. Puech Haut is also well known for its collaboration with numerous artists, putting creativity and art at the heart of its values.
Chateau Puech Haut grows a wide range of grape varieties, including Syrah and Grenache, as well as old Carignans (50 to 60 years old on average), Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. The whole of Domaine Puech Haut is cultivated without chemical weedkillers and the grapes are harvested by hand. Chateau Puech Haut's aim is to produce great Languedoc wines that respect the vine's natural cycle as much as possible.
Over the years, Château Puech Haut has forged a strong identity around its red wines. The best-known of these is the Tête de Bélier cuvée, which is the emblem of Puech and one of the region's must-have vintages. The Puech Haut Prestige and Puech Haut Argali cuvées are also among the best value wines in the Languedoc. Puech Haut rosé, red and white wines all have unrivalled drinkability and a distinctive patina. They are generally appreciated for their balance.
