Domaine Beaurenard has always been appealing thanks to its unique terroir and ideal location. The Beaurenard vineyard was established on the slopes of Châteauneuf-du-Pape after the château itself was built, to complete the estate.
Domaine de Beaurenard has existed since the 14th century, when it was created by the popes who came to build the papal château in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. On 16 December 1695, a notarial deed mentions ‘Bois Renard’, which over time became ‘Beaurenard’. A family estate for seven generations, the Coulon brothers, Daniel and Frédéric, succeeded their parents Paul and Régine in order to keep Domaine Beaurenard in the family and continue to perpetuate the ancestral know-how. The famous 13 grape varieties, sunshine and pebbles are characteristic of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation wines at Beaurenard.
Beaurenard estate covers 32 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 25 hectares in Rasteau and 6 hectares in Côtes du Rhône. The 13 grape varieties are grown organically (Ecocert certified) and biodynamically (Demeter certified) on clay-limestone soil. Beaurenard wines are produced with a constant focus on quality and respect for the environment. For over 50 years, the vines at Château Beaurenard have been cultivated with the same respect. On a daily basis, this means spreading manure, avoiding herbicides and synthetic chemicals, working the soil and carefully managing grass cover. At Beaurenard, plants reign supreme.
Wines have been bottled at Chateau de Beaurenard for over a century, a task carried out with the utmost care. The ‘Symphony of 13 grape varieties’ that characterises the appellation brings power and complexity to Beaurenard Chateauneuf du Pape wines. Chateauneuf du Pape Beaurenard red is a blend of 13 grape varieties, mainly Grenache. Beaurenard wines have an undeniable style and elegance, as well as good ageing potential! Another superb Beaurenard cuvée, Les Argiles Bleues, made from Grenache and Syrah, is very mineral and refined, with a focus on black fruits.
