The last member of Domaine de Vaccelli has just come out, Quartz Red is a blend of native grape varieties: Carcajolo, Minustellu and Sciaccarellu. A structured wine, showing a beautiful drinkability!
The sommelier info
For its first vintage in this red Quartz cuvée, Vaccelli sees things big with 28 months of ageing in half-muids. It is therefore a wine from a very long and delicate fermentation, which in the end is more like an infusion, in order to obtain a tannic cuvée just what it takes.
We find the power of Minustellu, the structure of the Carcajolo and the intense fruity character of the Sciaccarellu. A beautiful balance and complexity are expected! We look forward to see what this cuvée holds after a few years of waiting in the cellar!
This wine is served with
This Vaccelli Quartz Red will fit perfectly with a beautiful plate of Corsican charcuterie, a kid stir with some rosemary, a wild boar shoulder or a simmered dish like osso-bucco. Open or decant an early hour before and serve at 9/10 °C.

The domain
Domaine Vaccelli is located in Cognocoli-Monticchi between Ajaccio and Propiano, in the Taravu valley in the South of Corsica. The vineyard is composed of 25 hectares of vines planted on slopes on granitic arenas in AOC Ajaccio. Domaine de Vaccelli has become one of the best Corsican wines.
DOMAINE DE VACCELLI, A FAMILY HERITAGE
Domaine Vaccelli was created in 1960 by Roger Courrèges and passed on to his son Alain in 1974. The family began by building a Domaine de Vaccelli winery and uprooting the old vines already present to replace them with grape varieties such as Alicante, Cinsault, Sciaccarellu or Grenache and Muscat of Alexandria. In 1961, the Courrèges family began to cultivate this granite terroir, constituting the southern part of the Ajaccio appellation. It is today Gérard Courrèges, who manages the magnificent Domaine Vaccelli Corse, handed down from father to son.
AN UNPARALLELED TERROIR AT DOMAINE VACCELLI
Domaine Vaccelli has been in organic farming under the Ecocert label for several years now. It is therefore characterized by fine and elegant wines, which distances it from the standards of the appellation but makes its originality. The modernized Corsican viticulture at Domaine de Vaccelli and its typically Corsican grape varieties are the pillars of the appellation and the Ajaccio terroir. At Vaccelli, the wines are matured in demi-muids and in concrete eggs and respect for the island’s biodiversity is paramount. Whether it is Vaccelli red, rosé or white, all express a unique and qualitative Corsican terroir.
VACCELLI CORSICAN WINE OF CHARACTER
It is at the Vaccelli wine estate that Gérard Courrèges vinifies his 3 famous Cuvées in the Ajaccio Appellation: Unu, Vaccelli, Domaine Vaccelli Granit and a cuvée in the Vin de France: Juste Ciel. The three colors are produced at the domain, this diversified range makes it possible to satisfy everyone, in particular with the cuvées of the Domaine Vaccelli of a very good quality-price ratio and fruity and the mythical cuvée Vaccelli Granit, flagship element of the Corsican soil. Domaine de Vaccelli Quartz white wine is unique because it is a blend of old Corsican grape varieties such as Carcaghjolu Biancu, Ghjenuvese, Cudiverta and Riminese.
