JEAN-CHRISTOPHE PERRAUD TAKES OVER THE FAMILY BUSINESS

Domaine Perraud is a family business established in La-Roche-Vineuse, near the famous Roche de Solutré for 4 generations. Jean-Christophe Perraud created the domain in 2005 following his agricultural studies and from parcels passed down from generation to generation. He takes care of the 30 hectares of the Domaine Perraud and vinifies several vintages from the terroirs of 5 different communes in a brand new cellar. A part of trade also comes to complete his activity. Perraud’s vocation is to remain on a human scale and to perpetuate its family traditions.

THE VITICULTURE METHODS OF THE DOMAINE PERRAUD

Domaine Perraud cultivates different Burgundy grape varieties: the classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as Gamay and Aligoté from clay-limestone plots. Jean-Christophe Perraud has chosen diversity, proposing several vintages from different appellations but all worked with great care. For some time now, the Domaine has been moving towards sustainable agriculture, with the logical step being organic farming certification. Depending on the vintage, the wines are aged in stainless steel vats or in barrels, in order to preserve the essence of the terroir and to adapt to the harvest obtained. Thus we find white and red Perraud wines that are greedy, fruity and with a beautiful depth.

THE WORK OF PERRAUD, A TRUE FAIRY TALE

Jean-Christophe Perraud confides that "not being known and being part of a reference among references", he decided to create amusing labels according to the codes of fairy tales for children, where only the name of the domain and the grape variety appear. The range includes several appellations such as Mâcon Villages, Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne, Saint Véran and many others. The Mâcon is a huge success: fresh, lively and fruity, it is a wine that gives immediate pleasure. The Bourgogne Aligoté cuvée allows us to reconnect with this grape variety and its appellation, which have often been the victims of prejudice: Perraud’s Aligoté is light and silky, without the usual acidity that is so feared. As for Saint Véran, balance and minerality are the key words. We end on a high note with the Bourgogne Rouge cuvée Les Forêts, well known for its vitality, its red fruits and its supple texture.Jean-Christophe Perraud creates the Domain Perraud in 2005 with the family vines transmitted for four generations. Thanks to the soils of exception, the domain proposes a wide range of dry and fruity wines, mixing complexity and generosity. Domaine Perraud wines are developed by various vines: Chardonnay, Aligoté, Gamay, Pinot noir extending over 5 municipalities, what gives wines of various naming and a big diversity.
