The domain
Domaine Vacheron is an emblematic family estate located in the heart of the Sancerre appellation, in the Loire Valley. Renowned for its exceptionally pure wines, the Vacheron family has been perpetuating its winemaking expertise, combining tradition and innovation, for several generations.
Domaine Vacheron, established at the beginning of the XXᵉ century in Sancerre, began with mixed farming on some forty hectares. In 1966, under the management of Denis Vacheron and his brother, the estate had 3 hectares of vines. In the 1990s, Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron, representatives of the next generation, joined the estate. A pioneer in the region, Domaine Vacheron adopted biodynamic practices, certified by Biodyvin in 2006. This holistic approach to viticulture aims to enhance the vitality of the soil and vines, while respecting natural cycles. The grapes are harvested by hand, and only indigenous yeasts are used during fermentation.
The Vacheron vineyard covers 34 hectares, on two main types of soil: flint and caillotte (chalk terroir). This geological diversity gives the wines their distinctive minerality and unique aromatic complexity. Domaine Vacheron's biodynamically farmed vines receive special attention, without the use of synthetic products, thus favoring the authentic expression of the terroir.
Domaine Vacheron produces a varied range of white (including 6 parcel wines), red and rosé wines, each faithfully reflecting its terroir of origin. Sancerre Blanc, made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, seduces with its freshness, purity and aromas of citrus and gunflint. Sancerre Rouge, made from Pinot Noir, offers fruity and spicy notes, with an elegance reminiscent of the great wines of Burgundy. The Sancerre White Le Paradis cuvée is one of Domaine Vacheron's most remarkable expressions. Produced from vines grown on flinty soils, this wine offers a unique aromatic intensity. Its precision and depth make it a great wine for laying down.
