CHATEAU DE LA VERRERIE

La Verrerie is located near Lourmarin, a small Provençal village between the Côtes du Rhône and the Côtes de Provence. It is on the terroir of the Lubéron massif that the delicate wines of Château La Verrerie are expressed in rosé, red and white.

LA VERRERIE, A FAMILY PROPERTY

Owned by the Descours family, president of the EPI group since 1981, Chateau la Verrerie excels in the quality of its production in the beautiful region of Lubéron. A chai was first built and the cultivated areas were doubled, with the help of Jean-Jacques Coll, oenologist. The first vintage was released in 1985 and 3 years later, the Château de la Verrerie became Côtes du Lubéron. In 1989, it was consecration because the cuvée La Verrerie Grand Deffand received the gold medal at the world’s best Syrah competition. Since 2018, Valentine Tardieu-Vitali has been at the head of the technical part of the field.

CHATEAU LA VERRERIE, BIOLOGICAL PRACTICES

Since 2010 the 150 hectares, of which 26 of which are vines, of the estate of La Verrerie have been worked entirely in organic farming and since the 2017 vintage, a new master of chai and caviste has taken the reins of the production for even more precision and quality in the three colors produced by the Château la Verrerie. The vines, about thirty years old, are planted on stony and clay-limestone soil facing South. Much more than a state of mind, the practices are committed to the Château de la Verrerie: chemical and synthetic products have been banned from the vineyard, the size is meticulous, there is also a lack of irrigation and the use of natural amendments.

CHATEAU DE LA VERRERIE, GREAT WINES OF THE LUBERON

Château de la Verrerie produces great wines in the Lubéron appellation in all three colours, including the cuvée Hautes Collines, which we love very much in red for its tastes smooth and deliciously fruity. A wine of character, in the image of its terroir. The iconic Grand Deffand red cuvée offers all the aromatic power and structure of the Syrah, depth and fineness assured. The Château la Verrerie rosé is a friendly, light and fruity wine to share for simple but tasty moments of consumption. Finally, the cuvée La Verrerie white wine reveals a delicate and subtle weft of white flowers and candied fruits, a touch of mouth enveloping.
