The domain
Domaine Giacometti is located in the heart of the Agriate desert in Casta, near Bastia. This place emblematic of the Corsican culture must be protected and respected in order to promote the rich terroir of Giacometti. Created in 1965, it was taken over in 1987 by Laurent Giacometti and his son Christian Giacometti. Christian and his wife Corinne have taken over Domaine Giacometti entirely since 1997. Joined by their daughter Sarah in 2006 and their son Simon two years later, this 3rd generation reinforces the family’s desire to cultivate with talent and respect the plots of Domaine Giacometti. Simon Giacometti represents the growing dynamic generation of the Vin de Corse Patrimonio appellation and is convinced, like Christian Giacometti, that an expressive wine must be aromatic and reveal its terroir as well as its origins.
Giacometti is a separate terroir in the Patrimonio AOC because the soils are clay-granitic (Patrimonio is normally on clay-limestone) and the area is very arid. The red wines of Domaine Giacometti are all the more appreciable because they have a very good potential for ageing while the Giacometti Corsican white and rosé wines are rather fresh and fruity.
