This Crozes-Hermitage Red Magnum from Maison Les Alexandrins is made from Syrah grapes grown in the appellation’s iconic terroirs, which combine rounded pebbles, loess and granite soils. Vinification begins with cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by fermentation lasting around three weeks, with pumping over and punching down to extract colour, structure and aromas. Ageing, for around 10 to 12 months in vats and oak barrels, brings complexity and finesse whilst preserving the expression of the fruit. This superb Magnum format encourages a slower and more harmonious development of the wine, offering superior ageing potential (up to 8–10 years depending on the vintage) and greater aromatic stability. To be enjoyed as soon as possible!
The sommelier info
This Crozes-Hermitage Red Magnum from Les Alexandrins boasts a deep, brilliant colour with violet hues. The nose is intense and refined, revealing aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) and ripe red fruits, accompanied by peppery, floral (violet) and slightly smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-balanced, with a lovely freshness characteristic of Syrah. The tannins are silky and well-structured, supporting a generous and elegant texture. The finish is long and lingering, marked by notes of spice, liquorice and a subtle hint of oak. The Magnum format enhances the wine’s overall complexity and finesse!
