The result of a collaboration between Nicolas Jaboulet and Alexandre Caso, this Hermitage Red from Maison Les Alexandrins embodies a modern vision of the great wines of the Northern Rhône, where precision and balance take precedence.
The grapes come from carefully selected plots on the Hermitage hillside, notably the lieux-dits Les Grandes Vignes, Les Greffieux and Les Murets. This mosaic of terroirs combines granite, rounded pebbles and limestone, each contributing its own signature: structure and minerality from the granite, aromatic richness from the pebbles, and finesse and elegance from the limestone.
The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels (30% of which are new), allowing the structure to refine and the complexity to develop. This fine wine has significant ageing potential, capable of expressing itself fully over 10 to 20 years.
The sommelier info
The nose of this superb Hermitage Red stands out for its complexity and precision, blending ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), floral notes of violet, delicate spices (black pepper) and smoky, slightly toasty undertones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, with a dense yet perfectly controlled texture. The tannins are powerful yet elegant, underpinned by a lovely freshness that balances the whole. The finish is long, persistent and refined, marked by notes of liquorice, cocoa and a deep minerality derived from the granitic terroirs. An Hermitage by Les Alexandrins that is intense, harmonious and built for ageing.
