A flagship product of Matusalem, Gran Reserva has long been known as «cognac of rums». This excellent molasses rum was made in the Dominican Republic according to an original Cuban recipe. An exceptional aging of 15 years in solera gives this rum a particularly elegant creaminess.

MATUSALEM
In the early 1870s, two brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camp emigrated from Spain to Cuba with the intention of setting up a rum distillery. In 1872, they registered the Matusalem mark in reference to the patriarch of the Old Testament who died at the age of 969. Why Matusalem? Quite simply because the Camp brothers had the brilliant idea to apply to rum the techniques of the solera proper to the sherry and that he knew well. Simple but innovative idea for rum, this technique allows much longer aging in climates where spent about ten years, there is usually not much left in the barrels.
