The domain
Champagne A Bergere owns vineyards in several communes, notably in Fèrebrianges and Epernay, in the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs. On the soil of predilection of the Pinot Noir, A. Bergère produces reserve wines from the flagship grape varieties of the Champagne appellation.
WHY CHAMPAGNE A. BERGERE ?
Champagne Bergère is a family story. In the 50’s, Albert Bergère created his Champagne house by exploiting the family vineyards. He started to vinify and market his champagne under the name " A. Bergère". The success will arrive quickly by dint of work and regularity. His son André took over and expanded the estate in the 1980s, under the impetus of his wife Brigitte. Together, the couple extended the Bergere vineyard, which offered great possibilities for blending. The adventure continues with the children whose first names all begin with the letter "a" of the emblematic Champagne A Bergere.
THE ART OF BLENDING BERGERE CHAMPAGNES
For several years now, the blend of Bergere reserve Champagnes has been 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier. The harvest is done manually and it is the superb blends that are the talk of the town. Bergère: the different vintages, crus and grape varieties are brought together to find the best combinations. The wish of Adrien Bergère, the young winemaker of the family, is to continue to put quality before quantity and to take care of this art of blending already perpetuated for many years in the family. The bottling according to the Champagne method is always done in the family, before the bottles of Champagne A Bergere leave for several months for the cellars where they will age before being sold.
THE DIFFERENT PRODUCTIONS OF CHAMPAGNE BERGERE
The range of A Bergere Champagnes is wide, from the most classic Brut, called Brut Origine, to the Blanc de Blancs Terres Blanches and the rosé Brut, to the more prestigious vintages, made from Grand Cru, as well as plot-based vintages, which are also vintage. Finally, the Maison Bergère produces fruity and crisp red wines in the Coteaux Champenois appellation on the terroir of Fèrebrianges. A more atypical production of monocépages like Petit Meslier and champagnes elaborated on the principle of Solera are also available. We can say that the Maison A. Bergère knows how to renew itself and try new things!
