This rich, well-balanced Estelas Red by Camp del Mas is perfectly in keeping with the tradition of the great Languedoc vins de terroir, and lends itself equally well to gourmet meals and moments of conviviality. The name ‘Estelas’, derived from the Occitan word for ‘stars’, refers to the starry skies visible from the plot, dear to the heart of the winemaker who planted these vines.
The sommelier info
Estelas Red by Domaine Camp Del Mas is a refined micro-cuvée made from old Carignan vines planted in the clay-limestone and siliceous soils typical of the Languedoc region. This ancestral grape variety, long depreciated, reveals all its nobility here thanks to meticulous work and controlled yields, producing a wine that is both elegant. This Languedoc red wine is beautifully fluid and elegantly fresh, revealing great finesse and subtlety. Its aromatic palette, dominated by aromas of small red fruits, is enhanced by delicate floral touches and sweet spices.
Situated at an altitude of around 250 metres, the plots benefit from a special microclimate, marked by a current of fresh air from the Cévennes, which helps to preserve the freshness and aromatic complexity of the grapes. Each parcel is carefully vinified separately using traditional methods, with punching of the cap and long macerations lasting three weeks to maximise the extraction of aromas and tannins.
The wine is then matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, giving it a harmonious structure and subtle woody notes. After maturation, it is blended in vats and rested for a further six months before bottling, for a total of 18 months of preparation.
This wine is served with

The origins of the name Camp del Mas (also known as ‘fields of the mas’) come from the location of the wine estate, which was once a crossing point for the transhumance routes. The founders of Domaine Camp del Mas, Julien Monclus and his partner Mélanie, both come from the the wine industry. Julien, a 4-generation descendant of winegrowers, has also been helping in the vineyards by his father, having gained experience with winemaker friends. Since 2016, their philosophy is to showcase the terroir of their region through Camp del Mas wines.
Domaine Camp del Mas is committed to respecting the plant and its environment, which is why
all work in the vineyards is carried out by hand. Only sulphur and copper are used, as well as biocontrol products, In addition, ploughing and grassing are also practised on these limestone and flint terroirs. The production of Camp del Mas wines is deliberately confidential in order to preserve a certain authenticity and a strong terroir identity. The two cuvées are aged in French oak barrels are used for both Domaine Camp del Mas wines.
Domaine Camp del Mas offers three wines, Gravis, Estelas in red and Cantaluz in white. The Gravis cuvée is a 100% Syrah from two separate plots: the first brings freshness, while the second gives more finesse to this finesse to this single varietal. Camp del Mas Cantaluz is a 100% Chardonnay cuvée planted in a valley. Freshness and minerality are the hallmarks of this Languedoc white. Camp del Mas draws its inspiration from the Burgundy tradition for its cuvées, which turn out to be real little nuggets.
