This Domaine du Clos des fées was created in 1998 by Hervé Bizeul and his wife Claudine. A former sommelier and food critic, Hervé Bizeul practised several professions around wine before becoming a producer himself. Noticed from the first harvest, Le Clos des Fees wines were immediately a resounding success. Always elaborated in the garage of their house of Vingrau, tiny village nestled in a mountainous area of the Roussillon vineyards, the wines, from the simplest to the most refined, are today exported all over the world.
Hervé Bizeul from Clos des fées has also become the pioneer of “viticulture réalité”, which he has promoted on his blog since the 1990s. The Domaine du Clos des Fées currently includes about thirty hectares in Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes appellations. The clay-limestone soils of the Clos des Fées are partly made up of steep terraces and exploited in reasoned viticulture. Thus, the inspection of the plots is meticulous, the tillage is integral, the harvest is manual and the use of any chemical treatment is prohibited at Clos des fées.
The cuvées of the Domaine Clos des Fées are numerous and generally selected on very distinct parcels. Hervé Bizeul wines exist white and red. The cuvées are diverse and varied, it produces fruit wines like Les Sorcières, cuvées of old vines with the Clos des Fées Vieilles Vignes but also parcels as De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté, prestigious cuvées with La Petite Sibérie and the emblematic cuvée Clos des Fées. The Domaine Clos des fées offers us wines with a strong personality.
