La Baronne Las Vals Red embodies a refined and authentic interpretation of Mourvèdre, an emblematic grape variety of the South, vinified here as a Vin de France by Chateau La Baronne. The grapes come from old vines over 30 years old, planted on terraces of sandstone pebbles resting on clay-limestone soils. This unique terroir gives the wine structure, depth and natural freshness.

The sommelier info

On tasting, Las Vals Red reveals an expressive nose combining ripe red fruits, spicy notes and subtle Mediterranean nuances. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, balanced by a lovely freshness. The fine, powdery tannins bring elegance and length, leaving a harmonious and persistent sensation. A sincere and vibrant wine that reveals all the nobility of Mourvèdre in a style that is structured, easy to drink and deeply indulgent.

On fine lees with weekly rotary stirring of the barrels for 12 months. The wine is then bottled without fining or filtration.

Château La Baronne belongs to the family Lignères since 1957. Château La Baronne is located on the Alaric mountain (northern spur of the Corbières massif). The Lignères family, has trained winegrowers, from father to son and from mother to daughter. All the wines are produced in biological culture to emphasize the soil of the region of Languedoc-Roussillon.
At Château La Baronne, we find the traditional vines of Languedoc but the family has a penchant for Carignan. To pass on the sharpness and the elegance of this vine in wines is one constant stake. The entire Château la Baronne vineyard is cultivated in organic farming and has few productions. The balanced of the vines is essential for the owners. The harvest are made manually. The castle has belong to the Lignères family which is a medicine familly all crazy about wine since 1957.
Les Lanes and Les Chemins are the visiting card of the Domaine and the vintages Alaric, Las Vals or Pièce de Roche are parcelled, defining the marriage of a terroir and a grape variety.
