The sommelier info

The bewitching nose of this red Saint Joseph by Stéphane Montez is perfect for appetite. Notes of red and black fruits such as raspberry, blackcurrant or blackberry gently leave room for violet and pepper to bring a touch of character. After aging, leather and liquorice become more present as well. On the palate, the wine is ample and the symphony of perfumes last until a persistent finish.
 
This cuvée benefited from a 12-month breeding in half-muids of French oak.

The domain

Nestling at an altitude of over 1000 metres in Chavanay, Domaine du Monteillet elegantly dominates the Rhône Valley. Covering 38 hectares, including 17 in a single block, it stands out among four prestigious appellations: Saint Joseph, Condrieu, Cornas and Côte Rôtie. After perfecting his skills abroad, Stéphane Montez took over the family business in 1997. Today, he creates top-quality wines such as his Saint Joseph Red, a generous wine with complex, long-lasting aromas and a long finish.
