The Guyot family is one of the emblematic families of Burgundy winemaking, since each generation becomes a wine grower from father to son. Domaine Guyot is located in Marsannay, the first village marking the entrance to the fabulous Wine Route and the Côte-de-Nuits.
It all began with Louis Guyot and his son Albert, who took over the family farm in 1951. The wines were mainly sold to traders, a few years later his father-in-law, Georges Guyard, decided to rent plots and then gradually bought them. Since 1990, Olivier Guyot has operated this vineyard of 15 ha of vines aged on average 45 years and extending from Marsannay-La-Côte to Vougeot on 14 different appellations. The Guyot family is one of the oldest in Marsannay.
Elected the best young hope of Burgundy by the RVF in 2000, Guyot wines have since enjoyed a crazy success. The red wines Olivier Guyot in Burgundy come from Pinot Noir and the white wines are made from Chardonnay. Each plot varies according to the composition of the soil, this is the richness and typicity of the Burgundy terroir. The wines of Domaine Olivier Guyot are located in Côte-de-Nuits on the appellations Marsannay, Chambolle Musigny, Gevrey Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis, Clos de la Roche and Clos Vougeot with many famous Grand Cru cuvées.
Since 1998, Olivier Guyot has been cultivating the vines of his Domaine in a reasoned crop, in the old way, applying the principles of biodynamics and by introducing widely the work of horses. Purity, finesse and elegance are the key words to qualify the wines of Domaine Guyot. For Olivier Guyot: “There is no great wine without quality grapes”, sentence and philosophy inherited from his grandfather who conveyed to him the desire to produce wines as naturally as possible. The whole work of the vine has been conceived in this sense: banning the weeds, carrying out a green harvest, scouring and burrowing.
