The domain
Domaine Bodin Cassis is one of these emblematic estates that make the prestige of Cassis wines. Domaine Bodin is located between the Calanques de Cassis and Cap Naïo, the 30 hectares placed in the hollow of a natural circus are thus preserved from moisture thanks to the mistral.
DOMAINE BODIN, A FAMILY WINE ESTATE
It was in 1899, at the age of 18, that Emile Bodin began self-taught the renovation of the vineyard devastated by the phylloxera. He was one of the first in 1901 to use Texans rootstocks and participated in obtaining the Cassis appellation in 1936, one of the first in France. In 1918, he acquired the Domaine de Fontblanche in Cassis to complete Domaine Bodin. Today Nicolas Bontoux, great-grandson adds a touch of modernity to this beautiful family fresco Bodin Cassis thanks to the ageing of new cuvées in oak barrels for reds and acacia for whites.
BODIN WINE IN CASSIS
It is in Provence that the appellation for Cassis Wines was developed, more particularly on the city bearing the same name, in the Bouches du Rhône. Recognised
since 1936 in AOP Wine de Cassis, it has been one of the smallest appellations. For more than a century, Domaine Bodin Cassis has been working in reasoned viticulture and cups. Numerous grape varieties such as Clairette, Sauvignon, Grenache and Marsanne allow Domaine Bodin to offer highly qualitative wines, including exceptional Bodin Cassis white wine with its Pur Jus de Goutte cuvée!TERROIR AND WHITE WINE BY BODIN CASSIS
The terroir of Bodin Cassis was based on a production of Muscat in its early days, it has also been reintroduced in recent years in order to maintain the authenticity of this Cassis winery. Since Emile Bodin was the first Provençal winemaker to bottle his wine, he is at the origin of these quality dry wines drawing all the mineral expression of the Cassidain limestone terroir. Indeed, Domaine Bodin grows grape varieties such as Grenache or Mourvèdre for Cassis Rouge wines; Ugni Blanc, Clairette and Marsanne for the Cassis White. To this is added the Cinsault for the Cassis rosé.
