Domaine de l’Ile Porquerolles

Domaine de L’Ile de Porquerolles right in front of Hyères on the paradisiac island of Porquerolles. It is in 1911 when the grandfather of Sébastien le Ber, Mr Fournier, buys the island. He plants 170 hectares of vineyards as firewall to avoid any fire risk, which had ravaged completely the island fourteen years before. Her wife, Sylvia Fournier will be one of the creators of the "appellation" Cotes de Provence. At that time, they are a member of the biggest wine-producing exploitations of France.
In 1971, the State acquires a very big part of the Island of Porquerolles to protect it. In 1980, Sébastien le Ber, takes the direction of vineyard . Today, the production extends over around thirty hectares and represents approximately 1200 hectoliters (rosé 70%, red 15%, white 15%). We really love this vineyard, poor a glass, close your eyes and you can ear the waves... Touched by the magic of the place and the particularity of this terroir, CHANEL, already owner in Bordeaux of the castles Rauzan-Ségla, Canon and Berliquet, acquires today the Domaine de l’Ile. The first vintage produced by the Chanel family is already very promising. To be continued!
