Château Salettes
Château Salettes is located on the edge of the Mediterranean, between Toulon and Marseille, at the foot of La Cadière d’Azur. It extends in one piece on 37 ha (27 ha in Bandol), among pine trees, olive trees and broom. The vines of Les Salettes, staggered in terraces, are protected from winter frosts thanks to the sea which is never far seen between the pines.
Salettes is one of the oldest estates of the Bandol appellation. The name of the «SALETTES» domain comes from the name of the place where salt was stored, a very popular and rare commodity in the Middle Ages. Since 1604, eighteen generations of the same family have succeeded each other at the head of the Domaine.
Domaine des Salettes focuses its work on several fundamentals. First of all, organic farming is not certified, sustainable and respectful of the environment although the Château Salettes is being converted. Chateau de Salettes produces 3 ranges: Chateau Salettes, Verdarail and Ooh Salettes. The wines of the Domaine feature the three colors, they are classified in AOC Bandol and IGP Mont-Caume.
