L’Andéol expresses the sun-drenched character of Rasteau through a Grenache-dominant blend complemented by Syrah, grown on ancient stony terraces over sandy marl and Pliocene clay. Part of the fruit is vinified as whole clusters while the remainder is destemmed, followed by one year of ageing predominantly in stainless steel with a small proportion in large oak foudres to soften the texture without masking the fruit. Black cherry, blueberry and wild berries mingle with dark chocolate, liquorice and sweet spices on a dense, fleshy palate framed by rounded tannins and a long cocoa-tinged finish
The sommelier info
L’Andéol fully embraces the generous character of Rasteau without becoming heavy or excessively oaky. Grenache brings the fleshy texture and almost confit-like dark fruit typical of the appellation, while predominantly stainless-steel ageing preserves enough freshness to keep everything beautifully balanced.
